Terms of Service

You need an account to list, save, or buy work. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for the activity on your account. Accounts are for a single person or organization and may not be shared or resold.

Publisher accounts are reviewed before verification. We may decline or revoke verification if an organization cannot be confirmed.

Writers retain full copyright and all rights in everything they upload. By listing a manuscript you grant Scripttopia a limited licence to store it and to display the fields you have chosen to make visible so it can be discovered, previewed, and — if you set a price — sold on your behalf. That licence ends when you delete the listing.

Only original work you have the right to distribute. No plagiarism, no infringing material, no unlawful content, and no attempts to route buyers off-platform to avoid fees. We may remove listings or suspend accounts that break these rules.

Writer and Pro Writer memberships bill monthly in advance and renew automatically until canceled. Canceling stops future charges at the end of the paid period; listings above your remaining allowance revert to drafts.

Every writer account includes one 30-day free trial with full access, no membership charge and no payment method required. Nothing is billed automatically when the trial ends; to continue you choose a paid plan. Founding Writer spots include a permanent badge and a locked-in introductory rate of $5.99 a month for Writer or $11.99 a month for Pro Writer, which applies for as long as the membership stays active. When you subscribe, a payment method is collected at checkout and you can cancel at any time from your account page.

Writers set their own price for each work they offer for sale. Buyers are charged that price at checkout, plus any sales tax or VAT that applies, and receive permanent reading access in their library. Scripttopia adds no buyer fees. Purchases are personal — you may not redistribute, resell, or publish work you have bought.

Scripttopia charges a 5% marketplace transaction fee on every completed sale made through the marketplace. This applies to all paid works sold on Scripttopia, including books, poetry, manuscripts, screenplays, scripts, and other eligible written works. The writer receives the remaining 95%, transferred to their connected payout account.

The 5% fee is separate from Writer and Pro Writer monthly membership fees and separate from payment processing fees. Processing fees are calculated and displayed separately on each sale and are absorbed by Scripttopia, so they are not deducted a second time from the writer's proceeds. Writers can see the gross sale amount, the Scripttopia fee, the processing fee, and their net proceeds in their dashboard.

The fee is calculated on the price of the work only. It is never calculated on sales tax, refunded amounts, or other non-product charges. The 30-day free trial waives membership charges only, not the 5% transaction fee. Founding Writers keep their locked-in introductory membership rate of $5.99 a month for Writer or $11.99 a month for Pro Writer and remain subject to the standard 5% transaction fee.

Before publishing a paid listing, writers must acknowledge this fee disclosure. Payouts and fees are handled through our payment provider's marketplace payment flow; Scripttopia never stores card details.

One-time purchases follow the Refund Policy. Memberships are not refunded for partial periods.

The service is provided as-is. We do not guarantee that a listing will attract interest, that a publisher will respond, or that the platform will be uninterrupted. To the extent permitted by law our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app. You may close your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms or create risk for writers, buyers, or the platform.
